Lee Rowing
Club Learn to Row Course

Lee Rowing Club is now taking applications for a number of four-week Learn to Row
courses. These courses are aimed at athletes who have never rowed before and want to discover the sport in
a fun environment with experienced coaches. Participants must be able to swim. 

Athletes will participate in 4 training sessions a week, two on the water (Saturday and
Sunday mornings from 11 am to 1 pm) and two off the water (Monday and Wednesday
evenings from 6 pm – 7.30 pm)

The course Schedule is;

Learn to Row Dates/                                                         Age Group

12 February to 10 March 2024                                       14 & 15 year girls (2009/2010)

11 March to 7 April 2024                                                 14 & 15 year old boys and girls (2009/2010)

8 April – 5 May 2024                                                         13, 14 & 15 year old boys and girls (2009/2010/2011)

We will cover all the basics of rowing, including:

·       Learning about safety on and off the water

·       Introduction to the boathouse

·       Introduction to the equipment used.

·       Introduction to rowing on the indoor rowing machine

·       Carrying the boat safely to and from the water 

·       Learning how to get into and out of the boat correctly.

·       Learning the rowing stroke on the water

·       Building rowing strokes on the water

·       Rowing in time together as a whole crew

·       Land-based fitness training

Attending a learn-to-row course does
not guarantee admission to Lee Rowing Club.
 Coaches and the Committee may offer
membership to those who meet specific selection criteria following the
completion of a course.
